One Little Word 2018: April

Yes, I know it's been a while since I updated this blog! I've been posting most of my layouts on Instagram which is so easy and haven't made the time to do any posts. I'm starting up again with this post, and hope to share some previous layouts in the next few weeks.

This year I'm participating in One Little Word, a project started by Ali Edwards. (You can find out more about the project here.) This is my first time doing it and like most projects, I started out motivated and completed the January prompts. Then February and March came, which ended up being very busy months for me and I didn't work on it. But at the end of March, I picked up where I left off and have completed the February and March prompts. I will be working on April and May together this month.

March's prompt was to practice doing one thing everyday, which I tried in April. My one thing to practice was to do a "miracle morning" daily. If you're not familiar with the term, "miracle morning" was created by Hal Elrod with the idea to practice the following things in the morning: silence (meditation), affirmations, visualization, exercise, and writing. A friend introduced me to this last year and I've noticed it made a difference when I've practiced it. I highly recommend it!

I also filled out the "this month I will" prompt for the month and chose to "run 3 times a week" for the month of April. I've been trying to get back into a running routine for the past 6 months but it has been sporadic and not consistent. Writing it down and using running as part of my "miracle morning" practice really worked for me and I was happy to have done this.

As for the pages I put together to summarize the month, they are fairly simple. I printed out the daily tracker card from Ali Edwards and used a stamp to highlight the days I had practiced my miracle morning. I took photos which told the story of the things I was doing: a self-portrait of myself reading during the morning, a photo of the notebooks I use in the morning, and one running photo.

I used the newly released "You Got This" stamp by Everyday Explorers to add some positive messages to my pages. There are a lot of fun phrases in this set and I can see myself using it on a lot of projects! I also used the "Labeled" stamp by Everyday Explorers on the journaling card about my running goal this month. The tag was printed from a Studio Calico digital stamp (recolored and removed the graphics) and the underlying 3x4 card is from the digital PDF of a Kelly Purkey kit.

Thanks for reading! If you're doing OLW this year, how's it going for you?
