After a few weeks of not doing anything crafty, I was itching to sit back down at my desk and start again. I finished a pocket page spread that I had started before our vacation but didn’t get a chance to finish.
The color scheme in this spread was inspired by an old sticker sheet from Scraptastic that contained the colors yellow, pink, black, light blue, and red. The cards are mostly from Kelly Purkey’s My People and Studio Calico’s Roman Holiday kit. I didn’t actually end up using any of the stickers from the sticker sheet.
Here’s a look at the entire spread:
For the title card, I used various scraps in red, yellow, blue, pink and black to tie all of the colors together. I sewed the little scraps down and left a little gap between a couple of scraps so I could stamp the dates. There were a couple of funny stories from this week that I wanted to document. The daycare provider for my daughter always sends me photos of her throughout the day and I had to include this funny photo of her climbing out of a small box. I still have no idea what she was doing. On another day, I was getting ready for bed when I realized I still had a sticker on me that my daughter had put there some time ago. Who knows how long that had been stuck on me!
The second half of the week included our first (of now many) trips to the San Diego Zoo this summer, a story about the funny things my daughter was doing, and a birthday celebration. I used stamps from Kelly Purkey and Ali Edwards on the photos and cards. The chipboard is from the Studio Calico Alfresco kit.
I started keeping my journaling in Evernote at the end of last year and this has been making a huge difference in the stories I’ve been including in these albums. My problem now seems to be editing and figuring out which stories I most want to tell for the week because there are too many!
Here are a couple more detail shots.
I found some old star stickers I used in a few of the pockets. I usually try to create a visual triangle to help the design.
I’ve fallen quite behind on this year’s album and now it’s time to catch up! Thanks for reading!
