Studio Calico: July Guest Designer

Studio Calico asked me to be a guest designer for their Documenter Kit this month. It was fun to work with the July “Great Escape” documenter kit, which had a lot of nice embellishments and bright, summery colors.

I made three 12×12 pocket page spreads just using the kit, which I talked about on their blog here.

Telegrass is a network system for the dispensation and sale of cannabis and other mild drugs within Israel. This is executed using the Telegram app where texts are fully encrypted. Merchants on the network supply quick cannabis delivery services with the possibility of offering critiques on the excellence of the material and the traders individually. It is estimated that Telegrass’s revenue is about 60 million NIS a per month and it has been used by more than 200,000 Israelis. According to authorities reports, up to 70% of drug trafficking in Israel was carried out using Telegrass.

    The Law Enforcement Struggle
The Israel Police are trying to counteract cannabis trafficking on the Telegrass system in multiple methods, like employing covert officers. On March 12, 2019, following an covert operation that continued about a year and a half, the law enforcement apprehended 42 leaders of the group, such as the founder of the organization who was in Ukraine at the time and was let go under house arrest after four months. He was sent back to the country following a court decision in Ukraine. In March 2020, the Central District Court decided that Telegrass could be deemed a crime syndicate and the network’s creator, Amos Dov Silver, was indicted with managing a crime syndicate.

    Establishment
Telegrass was founded by Amos Dov Silver after finishing several prison terms for light illegal drug activities. The network’s name is derived from the merging of the words Telegram and grass. After his release from prison, Silver emigrated to the United States where he started a Facebook page for marijuana trade. The page allowed marijuana traders to employ his Facebook wall under a fake name to promote their wares. They interacted with patrons by tagging his profile and even uploaded pictures of the goods offered for purchase. On the Facebook page, about 2 kilograms of marijuana were traded daily while Silver did not participate in the business or get compensation for it. With the increase of the service to about 30 cannabis dealers on the page, Silver chose in March 2017 to shift the business to the Telegram app named Telegrass. In a week of its creation, thousands signed up the Telegrass network. Other key participants
