June Projects with Kelly Purkey Shop

There’s a new release at Kelly Purkey Shop today and I wanted to share the two projects I made with this month’s release. The stamps and kits are all about summer fun and I was happy to work with them since we’ve been experiencing “June Gloom” here in southern California.

For my first project, I used the main TN kit called Summer Bucket List to document a week last year checking off the items on my bucket list. We spend a lot of time at the beach and at the pool – both as a family and solo for me, since I am avid swimmer. Many of the photos from the week were taken at both locations and I think I made at least 6 trips to the pool and beach that week. 🙂

When I first saw the TN papers, I was drawn to the large “Here Comes Summer” page. I cut down that page to use in a 4″ x 6″ pocket (layered over some white cardstock) and adhered a small photo of my daughter in the pool.
Since I was documenting my summer bucket list, I had to use the stamps from the kit to make a journaling card, with the completion dates. I used white embossing powder to make “summer bucket list” stand out on the dark blue paper.
I loved the circle patterns on the papers and stamped some of the sentiments over the circles and cut them out using a circle punch to use as embellishments on other photos.
Lastly, I cut out phrases from the fill-in-the-blank TN page to further embellish my photos. A few puffy asterisks from my stash completed the spread!
For my second project, I documented a recent week this year where I thought summer was starting to show up. Spoiler: Summer was just teasing me because it was sunny that week and then it was back to clouds the following week!
For this spread, I mixed cards from the main project kit, Fun Times, with the LLP kit, Summer Adventuring. We visited the beach twice that week and had fun collecting shells so the gorgeous Seashells stamp set by Life Love Paper was perfect to use. I loved playing with the different shells on my title page!

We also acquired a bike for my daughter which was exciting so the 3″ x 4″ card and matching sentiments from the Summer Adventuring kit was perfect for documenting that.

I used one of the journaling cards from the Fun Times kit to type some notes about things that happened during the week. The Sun’s Out stamp from Life Love Paper was great for adding an embellishment to the otherwise plain card. I popped it up with some foam tape.
A few more stamps and labels and my week was done! Thanks for checking out my projects and let me know if you have any questions!

  3. ‘We don’t want the American Dream for our kids’: Why this couple left the US for Ecuador with their children four years ago

They’d never even visited Ecuador before, but Brittany and Blake Bowen, from the United States, decided to move to the South American country in 2021 to give their four children a completely different upbringing.

The Bowens, who were previously based in the state of Washington, have been living in Loja, a small city based in the southern section of the Andes Mountains, ever since, and say that they are in it for the long haul.

“We love this little country,” Brittany tells CNN Travel. “We hope that maybe we’ll have grandkids here one day.”
Before the move, the couple, who’ve been married for nearly 17 years, say that they were becoming increasingly concerned about the pressures placed on children by “modern American society” and wanted to try something new.

“We did not like what we’d seen develop over the course of the last couple decades…” adds Brittany, explaining that they felt that young people in the United States were becoming “more isolated.”

“We weren’t confident that our kids would enjoy the same sort of potential trajectory that previous generations had shared.

“And the more we considered things like that, the more we wondered, ‘Is that even what we want? Do we even want them to be on a fast track to the American Dream?”

The couple were also frustrated with living what they describe as the “standard American life.”

“Long commutes and never enough money,” says Blake. “All those usual problems… I was working in a career that was very time consuming, and took me away from home a lot. So we didn’t want that anymore.”

So why did they choose Ecuador as their “new home”?

  4. Awesome blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere? A design like yours with a few simple tweeks would really make my blog jump out. Please let me know where you got your design. Thanks

  5. Thanks for your publication. I also believe laptop computers have become more and more popular nowadays, and now are sometimes the only form of computer utilised in a household. The reason is that at the same time that they are becoming more and more affordable, their computing power keeps growing to the point where there’re as strong as desktop computers through just a few in years past.

  6. Hiya, I’m really glad I have found this info. Today bloggers publish only about gossips and net and this is actually frustrating. A good site with interesting content, that’s what I need. Thank you for keeping this web-site, I’ll be visiting it. Do you do newsletters? Can not find it.

  7. Hello, There’s no doubt that your website may be having browser compatibility issues. Whenever I take a look at your website in Safari, it looks fine however, if opening in IE, it has some overlapping issues. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Apart from that, excellent website.
