Even though I’m trying to stay current and keep up with my 2017 album, I’ve still got plenty of gaps in 2015 (!!) and 2016. I didn’t really start doing pocket page layouts until last year, even though I thought about them a lot since I became pregnant in late 2014. My goal is still to go back and complete these two years, but I’m not stressing about it and am fitting in weeks when I can.
When I saw the latest Summer Vibes release from Paislee Press, I knew this would be perfect for documenting one of the summer weeks from last year. There was a busy week in August where we went to the beach at least a few times, as well as visited the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park.
Most of the elements in this layout were created digitally and then printed out. I used the Summer Vibes photo templates on a couple of cards (lower right on left side, and upper right on right side) and liked the white space they generated between photos.
Here’s a look at the entire spread:
I added digital word art in Photoshop to some of the photos and printed out the little black labels to adhere directly onto the photos/cards. I also colored the palm fronds in one of the cards in various shades of green to match the other blue/green papers.
To finish the spread, I found a couple transparency words in green shades from an older Studio Calico kit and stapled those onto the cards. I found some word strips in my stash and added those as well.
I’ve been taking my daughter to the sea since she was born, and the zoo since she was 6 months old, but it was only last summer that she really started to appreciate them both. I was amazed at her ability to point at the ocean and recognize it as “wa-wa” and she was amazed at the waves’ ability to crash over her little toes!
This year she’s loving the water even more and I can’t wait to start our summer layouts for this year.
